Your "plan for 2026" is here: use these 3 strategies to become more proactive

For those who really want to make a change in 2026

I put the newsletter on pause over the xmas holidays to spend time with my family, enjoying every second of it, here in Australia 🦘🐨

Because even though I truly love my job, I also deeply value stepping away from career and coaching topics once in a while. That distance matters.

In this edition, I wanted to share with you the 3 simple tools I have personally been using every year for the past 5 years.

And NO, there’s no such thing as resolutions here.

I read an article recently saying that 78% of people abandon their New Year’s resolutions by the end of February.
I think that says it all…

Whether you are:

  • looking for a job

  • newly made redundant

  • wondering what’s next in your career

  • or even thinking about exploring a new country

You can follow this plan step by step, and adapt it to your own reality.

1️- reflect on last year: wins and learnings

If you skip this step, you risk building your 2026 on a fragile foundation.

I ask myself:

  • What worked? (in your job search for eg)

  • What didn’t? (in your own business for eg). In my case, so many things I have tried didn’t work but I have learnt so much along the way, that I am thankful for what some people call ‘failure’. Those ‘hiccups’ are your best opportunities

  • What do I not want anymore? (changing industry, toxic boss, unhappy at work…)

List them down . No judgement. Whatever worked, repeat it. Whatever didn’t, understand what could have made it succesful

2️- choose 3 goals

One for:

  • personal life

  • professional life

  • health / physical wellbeing

Why goals and not resolutions? Because a goal gives direction.
A resolution often starts from pressure or guilt.

some examples:

  • Personal: focus on one important value I want to pass on to my children

  • Professional: reach $XX this year

  • Physical: run a marathon

Simple, clear, and grounded.

3️. choose one word for the year

One word that represents how I want to show up.

Last year, my word was CONNECTIONS.

Why a word?
Because when doubt creeps in (and it always does), I come back to it and ask:

“Does this decision align with my word?”

It becomes an amazing compass throughout the year.

I will be doing my reflection this weekend – How about you?
