The day I moved from corporate to Entrepreneur

My story might resonate if you are considering a career pivot

I realized something recently:
Most of you know me through this newsletter (or maybe you follow me on LinkedIn here )… but I’ve rarely shared how I pivoted from 15 years in Corporate to becoming a career coach.

And I know some of you are thinking about taking the leap too, so maybe this story is going to resonate.

Let’s start with something important:
I’ve always been the kind of person who loves her job.
Passionate.
Never counting my hours
For me, the mission itself always mattered more than anything else.
because it was what kept me alive.

But slowly the passion stepped back and burnout stepped in.
It wasn’t “popular” to talk about it at the time, but I went through it.
I got out of it the best way I could, by myself.

I jumped back into work again - passionate again - until I slowly wasn’t.

In between all this:
• I became a mum for the 3rd time
• I turned 40
• And I realized that even if I was surrounded by great people, I couldn’t see my impact anymore.
Somewhere on the way, I had lost my purpose.

So after much consideration I asked for help.
I worked with a career coach for 6 months: intense, introspective, and focused on tangible objectives.
I needed to find what could drive my passion again.

The first thing she told me changed everything:
“You don’t need to know exactly where you’re going. You just need to expose yourself to more opportunities. Be curious.”

So I did just that. I felt less pressure
I registered for an ICF coaching certification : In fact not because I knew I wanted to be a coach, but because I needed to open my mind, build a new network, and discover something different.

It took almost 2 years.
18 months of full-time job + coaching classes and assessments at 4am… and sometimes at 11pm.
Chaos.
(Yes, nothing happens overnight.)

But I was growing. Fast.

Slowly, it became obvious:
Coaching was what lit me up.
Because people - not sales$$$ - were finally at the center of my work.

Then life sent me a sign.
One of those you can’t ignore.

I was made redundant after an organizational change.
It hurt. A lot.
But somehow I knew I was ready.
I decided to take it as a sign of the universe

And here I am, 2 years later.
Helping my clients reach their objectives.
Every morning, I wake up knowing why.
And every evening, I go to bed with the feeling that I helped someone grow……… and that I grew too.

I’m grateful every day to work with Expats who are incredibly brilliant, ambitious, and sometimes just in need of that boost to give them the courage, the confidence or the motivation they need. These are so important when you want to step out of your comfort zone.

So if you’re wondering whether you should take the leap…
There’s only one real way to know:

Try.
In the right conditions, with the right questions, with the right support.
Give yourself the chance to succeed.

If I can do it, you can too.
