How to differentiate yourself when your resume seems very common

3 ways to get noticed when your profile looks like everyone else’s.

This is a question that’s probably in your mind

I’m not going to be pessimistic (because whoever knows me enough I am an overly optimistic person), but entering the job market , ANY job market , at ANY age, can feel like entering a blood bath:

Everyone looks like you. Everyone has a similar story.
Everyone has pretty much the same job title.

I am going to give you a couple of recent examples:

One person came to me a couple of months and said:
“I’ve applied to a million jobs but heard back from none. I’ve changed my resume 4 times. I honestly don’t know what else to do.”

(She is a translator)

What we worked on: I helped her switch industry without throwing everything away, just by showing how her skills still made sense in a new space.

Another one, an expat C-level executive, said:
“I’ve done it all, but when I look at my LinkedIn profile, I just feel like a clone of every other foreigner director who’s now looking for ‘purpose’, is “people-focused” and can speak 3 languages

In some countries, you can’t quite afford to remain jobless for too long.. because of visa, or financial pressure.

We spoke about building up her presence and personality to be visible and top of mind.

When this happens, you usually have 2 options:
You either complain, ruminate, look at the past, and end up saying:
Or
You accept it. And you move on.

If you’ve read this far, there’s a chance you are from team “Move on.”

So I’m going to give you 3 ways to stand out:

1-You own your story

Most people write resumes that sound like job descriptions, - yes, that’s boooring!
Yours should sound like a “STORY”

What did you build, improve, or fix that no one else saw?
Your past is full of WINS : your tone of voice, your choices, your transitions : they ALL matter.

2. You must work on your personal branding

People connect to people. Not to bullet points on your profile
So show who you are. What you stand for.
Be visible on LinkedIn. Write posts every week. Comment with intention.
Recruiters must see your personality straight away, your must be relatable

3. You should learn a new skill

If you feel like your past experience is not enough to break through anymore (welcome AI…), don’t wait to get picked.
Pick something new to learn : a tool, a method, a system.
There are 15min tutorials on almost anything these days.
Whether it's AI prompts, Canva, Salesforce, UX writing, storytelling, or basic Python : show you're in action
You may even be voted a Top Voice one day!

Don’t forget that nobody can beat you at being you , so make it your strenght now!
